La Liga will reportedly not have goal-line technology from next season

Since La Liga is one of the few major football leagues without goal-line technology, problems like this one keep occurring. There are only nine days remaining in the La Liga season, therefore if the Competition Committee rules that the game must be replayed, it must happen next week.

Goal-line technology won’t be used in La Liga for the upcoming season, according to president Javier Tebas, who also claims it is too costly. The method was originally used in the Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1 last year and has been effectively employed in the Premier League from the start of the 2013–14 season.

Technology has been authorized for the Euro 2016 championships in France, which start this week, as well as for the Champions League and Europa League competitions during the previous season. Tebas has stated that despite the price, Spain’s top division will continue to forgo its use. “No, we won’t use it. It costs a lot of money to have it,” he was quoted as saying on Tiempo de Juego.

I’ll explain everything we do: Javier Tebas

Tebas asserted that investigations into suspicions of match-fixing linked to Rayo Vallecano’s 2-1 loss to Real Sociedad are still underway and that there would be discussions about altering the Copa del Rey competition structure. Following a rush of “abnormal” betting, it was reported last month that the match, which was played on May 8, would be investigated by authorities.’

“We said it was being investigated and it still is. The topics of investigation for these games, don’t come to anything and others can amount to a little more, but it takes time. I don’t want to give dates. During the season, we’ve investigated other curious bets and come to nothing,” Tebas opined.

Before charging the whole league with supporting racism, the 60-year-old had requested Vinicius to “inform himself.” “Before criticising and insulting La Liga, it is necessary that you inform yourself properly. Do not let yourself be manipulated and make sure you fully understand each other’s competencies and the work we have been doing together,” he had written in reply to a post by the Brazilian.

Tebas addressed to reporters at a news conference on Thursday in a “different” manner and in a gentler tone. “If I meet him, the first thing I’ll tell him is I’m sorry if I offended you but I didn’t want to accuse you. I’ll explain everything we do [to fight racism] all the time. I won’t explain our remits because that’s very complicated but I would tell him that I’m frustrated ,” he said.
