Look at the difference between Indian T20 League’s and Pakistan Super League’s per match media rights value

On Tuesday (14 June 2022), Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, Jay Shah announced the winners of the TV and Digital media rights of the Indian T20 League for the next FTP cycle. It has been found that the per-match value has hit a whopping INR 115.4 crore after the completion of this bidding.

On the other hand, the per-match value of the Pakistan T20 League hit only INR 2.76 crore for the 2022-23 cycle. Therefore, Pakistan got another setback in terms of media rights valuation. During the first day of the E-auction (12 June 2022), it was evident that this Indian T20 League is going to be considered one of the sporting events in terms of media rights.

He also added that it overtook one of the most popular football leagues in the world, the English Premier League as this league’s media rights valuation was around INR 86 crore. It is indeed a proud moment to see that a league designed and conceptualized in India is now the second-most lucrative sports property.“ In just 15 years, the IPL has moved ahead of the globally popular English Premier League, Major League Baseball (MLB), and The National Basketball Association (NBA),” he concluded.

Joy Shah also shared the overall amount of money that will be distributed among all the franchises as each team is expected to get around INR 3000 Crore. A part of the revenue will go to state associations, staff, and players.
