Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni is known for giving players a fresh start under his leadership. After being released from India’s Test team, Ajinkya Rahane too struck the reset button. “Ajinkya was always part of the plan when Shreyas got injured. He has the experience of playing in England and has been successful too. But of course, he was not in the setup for a year or so. We had only seen how he performed in the Ranji trophy. That is why Rahul turned to MS for his inputs,” A senior Indian Cricket Board official was quoted as saying on InsideSport.

After Shreyas Iyer’s injury forced him out of the WTC Final, the team management, in particular Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma, were eager to give Rahane another chance.
