Major blow to India! Pakistan go ahead of them

Pakistan enjoyed another ODI series victory as they clean swept West Indies in a three-match home series. After this series, Pakistan strengthened its position in the Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League table. Players like Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, and Imam-ul-Haq played a vital role in ensuring these three consecutive victories over the Caribbeans.

Imam-ul-Haq became the player of the series for scoring 199 runs in three innings, including three 50+ scores. He had been very consistent in the last few years in this white-ball format of this game. However, after the conclusion of this series, the overall ranking of the Men’s ODI got updated and currently, Pakistan gets ahead of India in that table. Meanwhile, India also thrashed West Indies 3-0 at home in the last ODI series they played.

Pakistan is in fourth place right now with 106 points

Babar-led Pakistan jumped one spot to fourth after this series win while India is at the fifth spot. Before this series, Pakistan was in fifth place with 102 points. Now, after clean sweeping the Caribbeans, they reached 106 points over India’s 105 points.

In the last few years, Pakistan has enjoyed a very good time in the 50-over format. They only managed to lose one away series against England. Apart from that, They won a series against Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Australia.

Speaking about the current ODI rankings, the Kiwis are sitting at the top with 1505 points and 125 ratings in 12 matches. Now, Pakistan is sitting fourth behind England and Australia respectively.

During these successful ODI series, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam had been instrumental as he became the first batter to score consecutive 50+ scores in nine International matches across the format of this game. He also became the fastest batter to score more than 1000 runs as captain in 13 innings by breaking the previous record of former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli (17 innings).

Pakistan is now scheduled to play a three-match ODI series in the Netherlands against the Dutch, starting on 16th August 2022.
