Indian cricketer KL Rahul has provided an update on his injury and subsequent surgery through his social media accounts. The Lucknow Super Giants captain recently shared photographs of himself using crutches, just days after undergoing surgery on his right thigh. The injury was sustained during an IPL 2023 game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore two weeks ago.

Rahul, expressing his disappointment, announced his decision to undergo surgery, which would cause him to miss the remainder of the IPL season as well as the upcoming  World Test Championship final against Australia. He took to social media to convey his emotions, stating, “Absolutely gutted that I won’t be at the Oval next month with Team India. I’ll do everything I can to get back in the blue and help my country. That has always been my focus and priority.”

The Indian Cricket Board supported Rahul’s decision and provided details of the upcoming medical procedures. In their statement, the Indian Cricket Board confirmed that Rahul would undergo surgery as soon as possible, followed by rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy. The board also named Ishan Kishan as Rahul’s replacement for the World Test Championship final, with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, and Mukesh Kumar added as reserves.

Rahul later updated his fans on the outcome of his surgery, expressing gratitude to the medical team for their support. He stated, “Hi everyone, I just got done with my surgery – it was successful. A big thank you to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I was comfortable and everything went smoothly. I’m officially on the road to recovery now.”

With his surgery now behind him, Rahul remains determined to return to the cricket field stronger than ever. He emphasized his commitment to rehabilitation and regaining his peak form, concluding his update with the words, “I’m determined to get back to my best and get back on the field. Onwards and upwards!”

KL Rahul’s injury and subsequent surgery have dealt a blow to his participation in both domestic and international cricket. However, his positive attitude and determination to recover suggest that fans can expect to see him back in action in the not-too-distant future.
