However, he was in action on Day 4 against another Indian shuttler, HS Prannoy. Along with him, Saina Nehwal was in action also. But, Both Nehwal and Lakshya Sen failed to win their respective matches. But, Indian shuttlers managed to grab a win in both matches of the men’s doubles.

Saina Nehwal lost the match against Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan

Speaking about the performances, Saina Nehwal was in action in the round of 16. She was playing against Thailand’s World No. 12 Busanan Ongbamrungphan. But, she failed to win all three games at a scoreline of 17-21, 21-16, and 13-21. Lakshya Sen came into this tournament with the hope to bag another medal after his historic gold medal-winning performance in the Commonwealth Games 2022.

But, HS Prannoy defeated Lakshya at a scoreline of 17-21, 21-16, 21-17. Now, he will face China’s World No. 23, Zhao Jun Peng, in the quarterfinals on 26 August 2022. But, Indian shuttlers continued to impress in the men’s doubles category. Indian men’s doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun continued their dream run. On the other hand, India’s No.1 pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also advanced.

However, Arjun opened up after this massive win. He said: “We feel good. As with every match, we were prepared for this one as well. We used different tactics compared to our last match because these guys are fast on the legs so we had to be extra ready. We had many nervous situations in the game but luckily we were able to get over them, We’re looking to go all the way through because we’ve had many close matches with good pairs. I feel this is our time when matches are falling on our side as well.”
