Pakistan’s wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan is one of the main players in the side across formats. Early last year, he started opening the batting which had a great impact on his batting numbers. He was the highest-run-getter in the T20I format last year. Also, he was part of the Pakistan side that beat India for the first time in the history of the 20-20 World Cup last year.

In the game, the Babar Azam-led side won the toss and elected to field first. The bowlers restricted India to 151/7. Former India skipper Virat Kohli scored 57 while Shaheen Afridi took three wickets. In reply, the likes of Azam and RIzwn took it upon themselves to chase down the target. The Green Brigade won the game by 10 wickets. Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper batter has revealed how his life has changed after that result.

He revealed that even though it was just another game for them, it meant the world to Pakistani fans. Rizwan added that after he landed at his homeland after the tournament, he wasn’t charged a single penny by the shopkeepers.

“When we won against India, that time, I thought it was only a match for me. It was because we won that game easily. But when I came to Pakistan, I realised how much it meant. Whenever I went to a shop, they won’t take money from me. They would say, ‘you go, you go. I won’t take money from you!’” Rizwan told Mike Atherton on Sky Sports Cricket.

“People would say, ‘everything is free for you here’. This is the love from all of Pakistan after that match,” said Rizwan.

Pakistan is staring down a clean sweep against England

Meanwhile, the Asian side is hosting the Three Lions for the first time since 2005. In what was meant to be a historic series, it has turned out to be a nightmare for the home side. In the three-match Test series, Pakistan have already lost two and need to avoid clean-sweep embarrasment at home.
