During the state government election in Gujarat, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja‘s wife Rivaba contested the polls. The latter was contesting from the Jamnagar (North) seat for the now-ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Notably, the left-hander, Ravindra, belongs to Jamnagar. She was standing against the likes of local businessman Dipendrasinh Jadeja (Congress) and Karsan Karmur (Aam Aadmi Party).

Meanwhile, over a week back, Rivaba claimed victory as he won by more than 50000 votes, leaving her opponents. After the victory, her husband decided to celebrate the result by spending lavishly. Notably, the 2008 U19 World Cup winner has been deemed unfit for now and hasn’t played any cricket since the Men’s Asia Cup 2022. For the unversed, he sustained a knee injury during the continental tournament.

Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out for the ongoing Bangladesh tour

The 34-year-old was deemed to make a comeback in ongoing India’s tour of Bangladesh in October this year. The ousted selection committee had been named for the ODI and Test series. However, with only a few days at the start of the series, Jadeja was ruled. The former selection committee members had said that they didn’t want to risk Jadeja.

Currently, there is no update on when he will make his comeback for the national side. After the ongoing Bangladesh series, the Men In Blue will have a break and will resume their cricket after the change of calendar i.e 2023. In January next year, the team will host Sri Lanka, followed by New Zealand for the white-ball series. Both these series will consist of T20I and ODI games. After these series, India will host Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy, followed by the ODI series next. Jadeja might be able to play for India from the start of 2023.
