The new T20 League in UAE is all set to happen in January 2023. Six different teams will compete in this tournament. Interestingly, six franchises of the Indian T20 League have been backing this league financially. Thus, this league is going to attract star international players more than other tournaments.

Now, as per reports, This league can be the second most expensive tournament after the Indian T20 League. The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) is going to conduct this new T20 League. Each team will have an overall salary cap of USD 2.5 million to develop their squad for the inaugural season.

Players are most likely to prefer this new T20 League over other competitions

According to reports, this league is going to pay USD 450,000 to its highest-paid cricketers per season. While the Indian T20 League pays more than USD 2 million per season. In comparison, other T20 Leagues in Pakistan and Australia pay USD 200,000 and USD 238,000 per season respectively.

As per recent reports, star Australia player David Warner is most likely to snub this year’s Big Bash league to play in this new league. Several reports are suggesting that this star batter is currently negotiating to join the UAE T20 League. However, former Australian batter, Adam Gilchrist expressed his concern about such approaches from star players.

He suggested that Cricket Australia needs to take an action quickly to stop such approaches in the near future. Otherwise, more players will look to play such lucrative T20 leagues globally than in other cricketing events. He said: “If he (Warner) rides off into the sunset and says, ‘Sorry Australian cricket, I’m going to become a gun for hire for my Indian franchise team in various tournaments’ you can’t question him on that, that’s his prerogative and he’s done everything he needs to get the profile and get that market value. It’s the new younger player coming in that starts to make those noises where it’ll be really challenging.”
