England is all set to host New Zealand for a three-match Test series at the start of the English summer. The opening match will take place on June 2nd at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground. This will be the first assignment for new captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum. Joe Root resigned as captain, and Stokes was selected in his place.

McCullum faces a massive task in restoring Test cricket in England. The team has been through some instability in recent years. They have only won one of their past 17 games. Furthermore, they have not won a series since their victory against Sri Lanka in January 2021.

In the practice match, though, New Zealand was defeated by a weak-looking side. Under skipper Kane Williamson, the Kiwis will seek to put up a strong fight against England. It should be noted that New Zealand will be missing its key batter and veteran Ross Taylor, who announced his retirement recently.

Head to Head

Last year, both teams competed in a two-match series, with the Black Caps defeating hosts England 1-0. The overall results, on the other hand, favour England, with 48 victories out of 107 Tests against the Kiwis. New Zealand has won 12 games against England. The two teams’ remaining 47 red-ball encounters have all ended in draws.

Here’s a look at the squads of both teams:
