Nick Kyrgios is currently busy playing in the U.S Open. On 1 September 2022, he won his match against Benjamin Bonzi from France. It was a grueling three-hour battle in the Louis Armstrong Stadium. He qualified for the third round after winning the match at a scoreline of 7-6(3), 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

But, all was not okay for the Tennis star as he was fined a massive sum of $7,500 for “spitting and audible obscenities”. He also got a warning in the form of a code violation for such unsportsmanlike behaviour. Nick was seen using profanity toward his player’s box and spitting on the court in their direction.

“Go home if you’re not going to f***ing support me, bro,” – Nick Kyrgios during the match against Bonzi in the U.S. Open

During the fourth set of the match, Bonzi broke Kyrgios’ serve. Then, he said: “Go home if you’re not going to f***ing support me, bro,” towards his player’s box. The box also had his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi.

Kyrgios also complained about certain audience members smoking cannabis. He also urged the umpire Jaume Campistol to warn the crowd inside Louis Armstrong Stadium. Kyrgios yelled: “It was f***ing marijuana.” In response to that, the umpire addressed: “Obviously when athletes are running side-to-side and they have asthma already it’s probably not ideal. Ladies and gentlemen, a reminder that you cannot smoke on the court.”

Kyrgios also opened up on his recent struggles. “For someone that’s struggled to focus in my career, I’m really trying hard to put my head down and play point by point, try to dig myself out of some certain situations. It’s hard because there are a lot of distractions. Obviously, a lot of heckling going on as well. People are saying things. I got to be very careful with what I say these days.” Nick Kyrgios concluded. Now, he will be in action again on 3 September 2022 against America’s Jeffrey John “J. J.” Wolf in the third round of this year’s U.S Open.
