On 4 December 2022, India began their three-match ODI series in Bangladesh. Keeping the 2023 World Cup in mind, it was a great opportunity for the Men in Blue. However, all senior players like KL Rahul, Virat Kohl, and Rohit Sharma took a rest from the last tour of New Zealand after the 20-20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, all of them are back for this tour. Speaking about KL Rahul, he failed to deliver since his comeback to the team. He failed to score in Zimbabwe ODIs. Then, in the Asia Cup, he managed only one fifty. In the 20-20 World Cup, he scored only 128 runs in six matches. So, fans were not happy with the star batter.

KL Rahul scored a vital fifty while other batters failed to score against Bangladesh in the first ODI

Ahead of this series, the Indian wicketkeeper, Dinesh Karthik also said that KL Rahul will be a better option at the number five position over Rishabh Pant. While talking to Cricbuzz, he said: “(Number) five is where we need to discuss. There will be a toss-up between KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. I have a feeling that KL Rahul will play, for sure. Pant, I think, has taken a long flight from New Zealand and has landed as we speak. KL Rahul will be a proper middle-order batsman for the fifty-over World Cup. If that happens, they will fit him at number five.”

However, team India did the same as they considered Rahul as the middle-order batter. He also got the chance as the wicketkeeper as Rishabh Pant got ruled out of the series. However, he did not disappoint his fans as Rahul scored fifty off 49 balls. Finally, KL Rahul got out after scoring 73 runs off 70 balls. He scored those runs at a strike rate of 104.28, including five fours and four sixes. After that inning, fans came up and shared their views on social media platforms.
