 ‘Pathetic approach’ – Fans lambast team India as they lost third T20I against South Africa by 49 runs

India and South Africa locked horns in a three-match T20I series. The Men in Blue approached the third game at Indore on October 4, Tuesday with a 2-0 lead against a South African team that was low in morale. 

Commenting on the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won it and elected to field first. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were rested for the game while Shreyas Iyer and Umesh Yadav got a go-ahead. M Siraj also played in place of Arshdeep Singh. With regards to the power play, the Proteas scored 48 runs at the end of six overs and lost one wicket. 

Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw held their fort and crested the innings. Quinton brought up a half-century off just 33 balls and set the tone for the Proteas. Rossouw scored a terrific century and powered South Africa to a huge total of 227 for the loss of three wickets.

South Africa emerge victorious against India

Speaking of India’s chase, Rohit Sharma returned for a duck while Shreyas Iyer managed to contribute only one run before he perished as well. Men in Blue lost two wickets within two overs and struggled to get off to a good start. Rishabh Pant began counter-attacking but returned with 27 runs to his name. India, however, managed to collect 63 runs for the loss of three wickets at the end of six overs. 

Dinesh Karthik, who produced a stellar inning, perished for 46 runs with an unwanted shot off Keshav Maharaj in the seventh over. Within nine overs, Men in Blue lost half of their men and looked in deep trouble.

South Africa’s fielding peaked and the fielders at the boundaries were on their feet every single ball.  Despite blitzkrieg knocks from Karthik and Suryakumar Kumar, India lost the match by 49 runs in the end. South Africa won the match and finished the series on a high despite losing it 2-1.

India have a few concerns to address prior to the 20-20 World Cup 2022 and death bowling is one among them.
