On January 5, Asian Cricket Council president Jay Shah presented the schedule of Asian Cricket for this year and 2024. He took to Twitter and posted the groups of the Asia Cup 2023 and various other tournaments. According to the schedule, tournaments such as Men’s Challengers Cup, U16 original (35 over tournament), etc, will be played. The schedule can be seen on Shah’s Twitter handle.

“Presenting the @ACCMedia1 pathway structure & cricket calendars for 2023 & 2024! This signals our unparalleled efforts & passion to take this game to new heights. With cricketers across countries gearing up for spectacular performances, it promises to be a good time for cricket!,” Jay Shah tweeted

Thank you Jay Shah for unilaterally presenting the schedule: Najam Sethi

A few hours after this, newly-appointed PCB chairperson, Najam Sethi expressed his displeasure over the schedule. He interestingly asked his Indian counterpart to consider the schedule of the Pakistan Super League 2023.

“Thank you @JayShah for unilaterally presenting @ACCMedia1 structure & calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which Pakistan is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present structure & calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated,” Sethi remarked on Jay Shah’s tweet.

In the last few months, the PCB and the Indian Cricket Board are having trouble with the Asia Cup 2023. For the first time since 2008, the Asian country is set to host the tournament. However, in September last year, Shah announced out of the blue that India won’t travel to Pakistan for the continental tournament. He cited none-permission from the government.
This didn’t go down well with the then PCB chief, Ramiz Raja. He threatened to pull out of the 2023 ODI World Cup although, before his ouster, he ensured the World Cricket Governing Council that the team will be playing the tournament in India.
