The Indian Cricket Board announced the squads for the New Zealand and Bangladesh series yesterday. With many senior players resting for the series against New Zealand, many young faces have been given an opportunity to don the blue jersey. Some new faces have been added to the squad for the Bangladesh series as well.

However, despite a few strong performances, Prithvi Shaw and Ravi Bishnoi did not return to the team. Following the announcement of the squads for all series, the two young players took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the squad selection.

Prithvi Shaw posted an Instagram story with a photo of Sai Baba. “Hope you are watching everything SAI BABA,” he wrote in the story. On the other hand, Bishnoi took to Twitter and wrote, “Comeback is always stronger than setback.”

In addition to Shaw and Bishnoi, veteran fast bowler Umesh Yadav and middle-order batter Nitish Rana expressed their disappointment on Instagram. “Maybe you can fool me, but God is watching you,” Yadav wrote in his Instagram Story. “HOPE hold on, pain ends,” said Rana.

Here is what Prithvi Shaw, Umesh Yadav, Nitish Rana, and Ravi Bishnoi had to say

Chetan Sharma, Chairman of the selection committee, confirmed during the virtual press conference that Prithvi Shaw will get a chance soon as selectors are in constant contact with him.

“He is going well. He is doing nothing wrong at all. The thing is that we have to see whether the guys who are playing are also getting their chances. He will definitely get his chance. Selectors are in constant touch with Prithvi. He will get his chances very soon,” Chetan Sharma said.

The young batter has been consistently producing spectacular knocks on the domestic circuit while also working out to lose weight. Shaw, notably, failed the Yo-Yo test ahead of this year’s Indian T20 League. On the other hand, he has shown impressive form in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022. The Mumbai captain has scored 285 runs in seven games, including a century and a half-century, and has an impressive average of 47.50.
