The Indian Test Team is now busy playing the fifth, rescheduled Test match against England in Birmingham. After this match got canceled last year due to the Covid-19 outbreak, it has been rescheduled this year. Ahead of this series, India announced a strong squad as all big names like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Cheteshwar Pujara made a comeback.

This series is crucial for India as avoiding a loss in this match will help India to win a series on English soil. India is already leading the series at a margin of 2-1 from the last year. In this series, Pujara scored 227 runs in the eighth innings, including two fifties.

Before this series, players like Rohit and Virat were given rest ahead of the South Africa series at home. On the other hand, Pujara was busy playing the county season in England. He was in great form as he scored 672 runs from seven innings at an average of 134.40. He was playing for Sussex in the county. Hence, before this England series, fans had high hopes for Pujara coming into this match.

Now, speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma missed it as he tested Covid-19 positive during the four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire. Hence, Pujara was given the opportunity to open the innings with Shubman Gill. But, the plan did not go well for the Team as he got out for 13 runs only off 46 balls. After playing so many balls and getting set, he threw his wicket again to James Anderson. However, this incident did not go well for the fans as they started to blame him and his selection in the Team on social media platforms.

As of now, India is in a spot of bother as they managed only 86 runs in 26 overs by losing four top wickets. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are in the crease with a motive to build a partnership.

Here is how Twitter has reacted to Pujara’s dismissal:
