Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairperson Ramiz Raja has sent a legal notice to former wicketkeeper batter Kamran Akmal. Apparently, the latter has been accused of making defamatory remarks about Raja on YouTube. Also, Akmal has been accused of using derogatory remarks about the team’s performance during the 20-20 World Cup 2022. In the recent past, several former players from the Asian country criticized their side during the Super 12 stage of the tournament.

After losing to India and Zimbabwe, the Green Brigade was on the brink of getting knocked out. However, the team managed to play the final where they lost to England. Meanwhile, talking about the case, it is not clear which comment from Akmal has hurt Raja. However, in the legal notice, the statement from the wicketkeeper batter was deemed defamatory and offensive. A source close to the development has said that the charges on Akmal aren’t clear to him.

“I don’t know exactly what charges they have made against Kamran but apparently the legal notice has been sent because the chairman feels Kamran made defamatory, false and offensive comments in the media about him,” a source close to the development was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Ramiz Raja is not going to tolerate defamation of Pakistan Cricket: Source

The source close to the development added that the criticisms were out of line during the World Cup. He said that Ramiz is in no mood to tolerate defamation of Pakistan Cricket.

“Some of them clearly cross the line while criticising the team, management, board and chairman and Ramiz has made it clear he is not going to tolerate anyone running down or defaming Pakistan cricket anymore,” the source said.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how Pakistani media reacts to this. Over the last couple of months, some journalists were accused of running a ‘negative agenda’ against Pakistan Cricket.
