Over the last few months, the Indian and Pakistan Cricket Boards have been going at loggerheads over the Asia Cup 2022. Apparently, the Indian Cricket Board has been saying that traveling to Pakistan depends on permission from the government. On the other hand, the PCB has said that if Men In Blue doesn’t arrive in Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023, they would boycott ODI World Cup 2023 in India.

In recent times, the matter went cold as both teams got involved in their respective bilateral series. However, fresh reports have emerged over the matter. Apparently, the reports say that PCB chairperson, Ramiz Raja has assured the World Cricket Governing Council that they haven’t made a decision over participation in the ODI World Cup 2023. Furthermore, the report says that the 1992 WC winner isn’t in favor of boycotting the tournament.

“Ramiz assured the World Cricket Governing Council officials that PCB had made no decision on not sending its team to India for the World Cup nor was it in favour of boycotting such a mega event but because of the strained cricket relations between the two countries, the PCB had to exert pressure to get the Indian board to send its team for Asia Cup,” the source was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying.

“Ramiz was very clear that Pakistan will not be receptive to the tournament being moved anywhere else because of India as it had already started heavy investment on building or renovating infrastructure for the World event,” the source said.

Raja reminded Apex Council that India handed Champions Trophy hosting rights: Reports

Notably, the former Pakistan skipper spoke about the Indian Cricket Board’s voting in favor of Pakistan hosting the Champions Trophy 2025. The Faisalabad-born player added that there is no confusion over the tournament’s schedule.

“Raja reminded the Cricket Governing officials that the executive board which included India had given hosting rights of the Champions Trophy to Pakistan, so there should be no confusion as to where the tournament will be held on schedule.”
