Pakistan is currently busy playing the final of the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai on 11 September 2022. After losing the first match against India in the group stage, Pakistan displayed good quality cricket throughout the tournament. On the other hand, India won both of the group matches.

But, in the ‘Super Four’ stage, they lost against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In the last match, they won against Afghanistan. But, it was not enough to get them qualified for the final. Now, former Pakistan cricketer, Ramiz Raza opened up about the reasons behind India’s early exit from the Asia Cup 2022.

“India went down only because they are not letting the model set.” – Ramiz Raza on India’s exit from Asia Cup 2022

This former Pakistani cricketer is now the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. As per saying in Hindustan Times, he said: “You have seen the team’s (Pakistan) ranking; the results are also visible. If we compare the teams of India and Pakistan, people have been asking me why am I playing the same combination. You will leave them injured or so. My point is that we have handled a particular situation and won games. So, why should I change the winning model.”

He also added that India did not settle with a model and that hurt them a lot. Raza added: “India went down only because they are not letting the model set. They are making too many changes. They have a bigger pool of players with which they are experimenting. So, unless you don’t have that kind of bench strength, you don’t need experimentation. You have got a strong position so just hold that and keep winning games.”

In Asia Cup 2022, both India and Pakistan won one match each. Now, they will be in action again with each other during the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia. Speaking of the final, Pakistan won the toss. They asked Sri Lanka to bat first in this much-awaited encounter.
