 Ravindra Jadeja recalls funny encounter with Narendra Modi in 2010

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is currently away from the game owing to a knee injury sustained during the Men’s Asia Cup 2022. This injury led him to miss the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Currently, he is helping his wife with the election campaign as she got a ticket from BJP, which is currently ruling in Gujarat. Meanwhile, the left-hander has recalled his first meeting with India PM Narendra Modi.

Jadeja revealed that he met Modi in 2010, at a time when the latter was the chief minister of Gujarat. Four years later, he was elected as the PM of India and is currently serving as such since then. Meanwhile, the all-rounder revealed that the then India skipper MS Dhoni introduced him to Modi.

“I had first met him (Modi) in 2010 in Ahmedabad. He was the chief minister of Gujarat back then,” Jadeja recalled.

The Gujarat player added that after Dhoni introduced him to Modi in 2010. Jadeja recalled that the team was in Ahmedabad for a game against South Africa. For the unversed, India played the last ODI of the three-match series at the Motera Stadium (Now Narendra Modi Stadium). Meanwhile, as revealed by Jadeja, Modi had asked Dhoni to take care of Ravindra.

“We (India) had a match against South Africa in the Motera Stadium. Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), who was our captain back then introduced me to him. Modi Sahab ne khud bola ki ‘bhai ye toh apna ladka hai, dhyaan rakhna (Modi Sahab said himself, ‘He’s our boy, take care of him)’. He said so with a laugh while being in a light mood).

“That’s when you feel…. a person of such big stature comes to you and says this personally. Ek alag si feeling aati hai. I felt really good when he said this.”
