Players auction for the Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 is going to happen on August 5 – 6, 2022 in Mumbai. Now, the complete list of retained players gets released ahead of this big season. A total number of more than 500 players will go under the hammers for this upcoming season. 111 players have been retained in all three categories.

Among them, 19 players have been retained under the Elite Retained Players (ERP) category while 13 players have been retained under the Retained Young Players (RYP) category. On the other hand, 38 players have been retained under the New Young Players (NYP) category. However, franchises have nominated 41 New Young Players.

Patna franchise has retained its elite players for the upcoming season

Speaking of the retained players list, the Patna franchise has managed to retain all of its elite players for the next season. Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh (defender), Neeraj Kumar (defender), Monu (raider), and Sajin Chandrasekar (defender) will once again don the jersey of this franchise. Two players in the likes of Rohit (raider) and Manish (defender) have been retained under the New Young Player category.

Head coach of this franchise, Ravi Shetty opened up about his joy after retaining such key players from last season. He said: “The retention of players reflects on the team’s strategy to build a strong and stable base for the pirates. In season 8, most of the matches played were in the close contest thus demonstrating the fact that the level of competition will be intense once again,”

Apart from the Elite Retained Players, the UP franchise has retained Surender Gill, Sumit Sangwan, and Ashu Singh under the Young retained Players category. The Pune franchise has retained slam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat, Akash Shinde, Govind Gurjar, Sanket Sawant, Badal Singh, and Aditya Shinde. However, some surprising names will go under the hammer as teams did not retain them. Indian stars like Pardeep Narwal and Pawan Sehrawat will be in action during this year’s auction.
