The new edition of the Asia Cup will begin on 27 August 2022. India will start its campaign on 28 August 2022 against Pakistan. Rohit Sharma will lead the team in this next edition of the tournament. However, India dealt a blow as Jasprit Bumrah will miss the tournament due to back issues.

Hence, India needs to depend on its young pace bowling unit of Arshedeep Singh and Avesh Khan. But, Rohit Sharma needs to work on many things apart from it only. He needs to sort out some issues before setting out the final playing XI against Pakistan.

Here are the three headaches that need to be managed by Rohit Sharma ahead of the Asia Cup 2022

Inclusion of Dinesh Karthik or Deepak Hooda

Since his return to the international arena, Dinesh Karthik delivered some good innings for India in the recent series. He managed to maintain his finisher role while playing at the sixth or seventh position. But, Deepak Hooda has also performed well whenever he got opportunities in the Indian jersey.

As big-name players will be available for this event, it will be hard to add both of them to the playing line-up. Selectors have also shown a lot of trust in the veteran keeper. Hence, Dinesh Karthik might get the chance ahead in the playing XI ahead of Deepak Hooda.

Bowling partner of Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Jasprit Bumrah will not be a part of this upcoming Asia Cup. Hence, Rohit Sharma is left with only an experienced fast bowler in the form of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Along with him, India will bank on youngsters like Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh.

Speaking about forms, Arshdeep has performed well so far in his small international career. On the other hand, Avesh Khan failed to perform well consistently. Therefore, Rohit Sharma might look to consider Arshdeep Singh ahead of Avesh Khan in the Asia Cup.

Perfect position for Ravindra Jadeja

In the spin bowling department, India selected four bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja is one of them. Due to his overall abilities with both the bat and ball, he might get the chance ahead of others. But, the main issue is the exact position of this player. Hence, Rohit Sharma should sort out his position in the playing XI before the first match against their arch-rivals Pakistan.
