‘Ruturaj should be discarded’- Twitter lashes out at Ruturaj Gaikwad’s rude behaviour with the groundsman

India was looking to seal the series as they locked horns with South Africa in Bengaluru for the series decider on 19 June 2022, Sunday. The stage was set as the series was in level, at 2-2. After losing the first two matches, India made a solid comeback to level the series.

However, rain played spoilsport as the match was called off and the series ended in a draw. Speaking of the match, the toss took place as per the scheduled time as Indian skipper, Rishabh Pant lost another toss. After winning the toss, South Africa choose to bowl first and Keshav Maharaj was the captain in place of injured Temba Bavuma. Then, rain hit the ground and the start of the match got delayed. Finally, it got started at 7:50 PM IST with revised playing conditions (19-over side match).

But, only 21 deliveries were played, and then, again rain hit as the match was stopped at that time. During that little period, India lost both of their openers quickly to Lungi Ngidi who was effective with his slower balls. India scored 28 runs only before the stoppage of play. However, the rain did not stop and finally, the match got officially abandoned.

A disappointing end to the series and fans who came to the field for the match. But, the Indian opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad came into the radar for his bad gesture to a groundsman when he tried to take a selfie with the batter. It has been found that a video of that disrespectful incident got viral and circulated over Twitter. The video showed that a groundsman can be seen approaching Gaikwad for a selfie but the cricketer could be seen asking him to keep a distance from the opening batsman. Fans lashed out on Twitter regarding this incident and some of them even proposed to discard him from the Indian Team for this bad behaviour. While some of them put up the Covid-19 theory in support of the cricketer.
