In the ongoing Ranji Trophy, Arjun Tendulkar hit his maiden ton for Goa in the ongoing game against Rajasthan. Notably, he moved to Goa after not getting a single opportunity to play for Mumbai. Months after this, the left-hander emulated his father. Apparently, Sachin Tendulkar had hit his maiden first-class hundred on debut for Mumbai against Gujarat. Meanwhile, the senior Tendulkar has opened up on his kid’s childhood days.

The 2011 World Cup winner started by saying that his kid didn’t have a normal childhood as the latter was a son of an active cricketer. The right-hander added that when he was facilitated by the media after retirement (2013), his message to the reporters was to let Arjun fall in love with the game. The 200-Test veteran has now insisted not too put pressure on his son.

“Arjun has not led a normal childhood; being a son of a cricketer who has been for quite some time, it is not so easy and that is the only reason when I retired and was facilitated by the media in Mumbai, my message to them was: allow Arjun to fall in love with cricket, give him that opportunity,” Sachin was quoted as saying to Infosys at 40.

“You can follow up with various statements after he has performed. Don’t put pressure on him because I never had pressure from my parents,” he added.

My parents gave me the freedom to express myself: Sachin Tendulkar

During the conversation, the all-time highest run-getter across Test and ODI formats further spoke about how his parents encouraged him.

“My parents gave me the freedom to go out and express myself, there was no pressure of expectations. It was only encouragement and support and how could we go and better ourselves and that is what I wanted him to do. I kept telling him that it’s going to be challenging,” Sachin explained.
