Pakistan fans were over the moon as their team completed a clean sweep over the visitors, West Indies, on Sunday (12 June 2022). In the three-match ODI series at home, Pakistan won all of them and strengthened their position in the Cricket World Cup super league table.

Despite failing in the third and final match, Pakistan captain Babar Azam had a great series with the bat as he notched up one century and one 50+ score. However, in the third ODI, Shadab Khan produced an all-round performance to ensure that his side won against the men in maroon. In this series, he managed to score 114 runs in three innings at an average of 38 while batting down the order. Even, he became the joint-highest wicket-tacker with Mohammad Nawaz by grabbing seven wickets.

In the third match, he scored a useful 86 runs off 78 balls as it helped Pakistan to post 269 runs in 48 overs. In reply, West Indies failed to chase it down by 53 runs, thanks to Shadab’s excellent spell of four wickets by conceding 62 runs in his nine overs. He was considered the player of the match also for such a stellar performance with both the bat and ball.

However, he revealed the source of motivation for him behind such performance. He said that the Pakistan captain, Babar Azam calls him Buddha (Old man), and that works as a motivational source for him. A Pakistan journalist also shared the same statement of Shadab on his official Twitter account.

Speaking about the match, Pakistan went to bat after winning the toss. They were in a spot of bother when they lost five wickets for 117 runs. Then, Shadab Khan and Khushdil Shah put up an 84-run partnership. Finally, Shadab got out for 86 runs as Pakistan ended their innings with 269. While chasing the target of 270 runs, the West Indies fell apart completely as they got bundled out for 216 runs only, thanks to Shadab’s four-wicket haul. Pakistan opener, Imam-ul-Haq was adjusted the player of the series for scoring 199 runs in three innings (three 50+ scores) at an average of 66.33.
