Pakistan had a great Asia Cup campaign this year as they played the final against Sri Lanka. Eventually, they lost the match and now, they are going to play a seven-match T20I series against England on home soil. However, Shaheen Shah Afridi did not play a part in that Asia Cup journey as he got ruled out due to a knee injury.

Now, he is in the UK to have his treatment with the hope to make a comeback in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup. Even, on 15 September 2022, Pakistan also announced their squad for the World Cup including his name. But, now, former Pakistan skipper, Shahid Afridi came up with a huge allegation against the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding Shaheen’s treatment.

“Shaheen Afridi has gone on his own to England. The Board hasn’t done anything” – Shahid Afridi on the Pakistan Cricket Board

Speaking on a Pakistani TV channel, Samaa TV, Afridi blasted the Pakistan Cricket Board. He said that Shaheen Shah Afridi has gone to England for treatment on his own. Former Pakistan skipper said: “Shaheen Afridi has gone on his own to England. He has even paid for his own ticket. He is staying in England on his own money.”

Shahid Afridi also added that he personally arranged the doctor for Shaheen. “I arranged a doctor for him, and then he contacted the doctor when he landed there. The PCB hasn’t done anything, From the coordination to his accommodation, he is doing everything on his own. Zakir Khan (PCB’s director of international cricket) spoke to him just once or twice.” Shahid Afridi concluded.

Speaking about his selection to the World Cup squad, Muhammad Wasim said that they are monitoring Shaheen Afridi. He said: “We are assessing Shaheen’s injury and hope that he will be fit.” Ahead of the World Cup, Shaheen will miss the white-ball series against England and a tri-series in New Zealand. On 23 October 2022, the Men in Green will kick off their 20-20 World Cup campaign in Melbourne against arch-rivals India.
