Ahmed Shehzad has always made headlines by speaking up against the Pakistan team management. In 2019, he played his last game for Pakistan in a T20I against Sri Lanka. However, after that, he has never been considered efficient enough to get a call-up to the National setup across all three formats.

Now, in a recent interview session with former Pakistan cricketer, Shahid Afridi, Shehzad got involved in a tense discussion. Meanwhile, Afridi said that he always supported Shehzad during his captaincy tenure for Pakistan. Afridi also added that Ahmed was constantly targeted and supporting him was completely misinterpreted as a case of favoritism.

“You tell me, where do I score runs? At my home?” – Ahmed Shehzad

Speaking to Samma TV, Afridi suggested Ahmed on focusing on his game only. He said that Ahmed just needs to score runs and spend good quality time with his family. It will help Shehzad to enjoy his life. Afridi said: “I want you to score runs, and enjoy your life with your wife and kids. Allah has made life beautiful for you.”

However, in reply, Shehzad lashed out his frustration at the former Pakistan legend. He also raised questions on where he needs to score runs to get a call. Shehzad also requested him not to deny any platform for him to score runs. He said: “I keep saying that. I want to score runs, but at least don’t deny me the platforms where I can score. I will ask you when sides in the Pakistan T20 League want to pick me, who comes in and says no? You tell me, where do I score runs? At my home? (Runs kaha karu, ghar pe?)”

However, since his introduction to the international arena, Ahmed Shehzad was considered the next big thing in Pakistan. Till now, several controversies have affected his overall career and those led him to an unwanted direction on his cricketing journey. Speaking about his career, Shehzad has played 153 International matches till now across all three formats. He has scored 5058 runs in these matches at an overall average of 31.41. He has also scored 10 hundred and 25 fifties.
