The former Indian leg spinner Amit Mishra has given a befitting reply to Shahid Afridi after the latter made a controversial Tweet on the sensitive Kashmir issue. The reason the two have engaged in a war of words on the microblogging site is the separatist Yashin Malik.

The person in the discussion, Yashin Malik has been charged with various acts such as section 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for terrorist act),18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act) and 20 (being a member of terrorist gang or organization) of the UAPA and sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 124-A (sedition) of the Indian Penal Code. These charges come under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Notably, Malik has pleaded guilty to all the charges and has accepted to be involved in various terrorist activities.

These charges have been leveled at the convict by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Meanwhile, the Delhi court is all set to announce its verdict on the case. The court has directed the NIA to investigate the convict’s financial situation. Notably, the NIA has sought the death penalty for Malik.

The former Pakistani skipper and swashbuckling all-rounder Shahid Afridi took to Twitter on Tuesday, 25th May to express his opinion on the issue. He criticized India’s continued attempt to silence voices that rise against its blatant right human rights abuses. In his opinion, the charges against Yahin Malik have been fabricated by India and he also went a step ahead urging the United Nations to step in and act accordingly on the issue.

Afridi’s Tweet read – “India’s continued attempts to silence critical voices against its blatant human right abuses are futile. Fabricated charges against #Yashin Malik will not put a hold to #Kashmir’s struggle to freedom. Urging the #UN to take notice of unfair and illegal trials against Kashmir leaders.”

This Tweet did not go down well with Indian leg spinner Amit Mishra. He soon replied the former Pakistani all-rounder. Mishra reminded Afridi that the convict has accepted all the charges and also took a jibe at Afridi’s ever confusing birth date.

Mishra’s reply read- “Dear @safridiofficial he himself pleaded guilty in court on record. Not everything is misleading like your birthdate.”

Notably, Afridi published his autobiography in 2019 where he stated that he is a 1975-born and not a 1980-born. This becomes significant as the official records show his birthdate to be 1980. However, Afridi also revealed that he was 19-years-old when he scored the 37-ball century.
