Currently, Kolkata is in the mood for festivals as Durga Puja is around the corner. Several pandals have been made throughout the whole city like every year. On 27 September 2022, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly inaugurated a pandal that looks like the famous Lord’s stadium.

This pandal belongs to the Mitali Sangha community of Kolkata’s Garia. However, Sourav Ganguly arrived at the balcony of Lord’s and inaugurated the pandal in some style. Fans loved it as the former skipper had a special connection with that stadium. However, images went viral all over the internet.

Speaking of the pandal, the puja committee set up a replica of Lord’s Pavilion adjacent to the pandal for Ganguly. Iconic Lord’s moment is the theme of this puja pandal. After winning the NatWest tri-series final against England in 2022, Ganguly took off his t-shirt on the Lord’s balcony. It became an iconic moment in the history of Indian Cricket. Hence, seeing him again on that balcony of the replica of Lord’s, fans were happy. 

Speaking of that match, England won the toss and opted to bat first. They put up a massive score of 325 runs for five wickets in 50 overs. Both Marcus Trescothick and Naseer Hussain scored hundreds for England. In reply, India managed to pull off the unthinkable by chasing 326 runs for eight wickets in 49.3 overs. For India, Yuvraj Singh scored 69 runs off 63 balls while Mohammad Kaif remained not out on 87* runs off 75 balls. Kaif won the player of the match award in the final for his match-winning knock.

Skipper Sourav Ganguly scored 60 runs off 43 balls, including 10 fours and a six. Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly scored 149 runs in seven matches at an average of 21.28. For India, Ganguly played 113 Tests and scored 7212 runs at an average of 42.17. On the other hand, he played 311 ODIs for India and smashed 11363 runs at an average of 41.02.
