 Sourav Ganguly Provides 5 Major Updates On The Indian T20 League 2023 And India’s Upcoming Matches

The Men’s India team are currently busy playing the three-match T20I series at home against Australia. On the other hand, the Women’s India Team are currently playing the three-match ODI series against England in England. However, the Men’s team lost teh first match while on 21 September, the Women’s team sealed the ODI series with one more match to go.

Now, as per reports to the Times of India, Sourav Ganguly wrote a letter to the state Boards. In that letter, he informed them about the Indian Cricket Board’s ambitious plans for women’s cricket, the Indian T20 League, and the domestic season in India.

Indian T20 League will return with the Home and Away format after three years

The Indian T20 League 2023 is going to happen in the old format of having both home and away games. Sourav Ganguly wrote: “The next season of men’s Indian T20 League will also go back to the home and away format with all ten teams playing their home matches at their designated venues.” 

India to host New Zealand and Sri Lanka after the 20-20 World Cup

The former Indian skipper also announced the bilateral series after the upcoming 20-20 World Cup. Sourav Ganguly wrote: “The BCCI’s home international season starts from today and we have exciting cricketing action coming our way. The Indian men’s senior team will be playing against Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand in the home international series. The Indian women’s senior team will be playing against Australia.”

Board is keen to organize the Women’s Indian T20 League in early 2023

Former India skipper also confirmed that the Board is currently working to begin the Women’s Indian T0 League in early 2023. Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly wrote: “The Board is currently working on the much-awaited Women’s Indian T20 League. We are expecting to start the first season early next year.”

Launch of Women’s U15 Tournament

Indian Board is also looking to introduce a Women’s U15 tournament. However, Sourav Ganguly wrote: “We are glad to introduce a girls U15 One Day tournament from this season. Women’s cricket has seen phenomenal growth across the world and our national team has been performing well. This new tournament will create a pathway for our young girls to play at the national and international level.”

Irani Trophy will happen in March 2023

Regarding the upcoming domestic season, Sourav Ganguly wrote: “All multi-day tournaments are going back to the traditional home-away format. All the white-ball tournaments will, in the group stage, be followed by the knockouts. The upcoming domestic season will feature two editions of the Irani Cup- Saurashtra, who were the Ranji Trophy champions for the 2019-20 season will take on the Rest of India team at Rajkot from 1-5 October 2022. Madhya Pradesh, who won their maiden Ranji Trophy championship in the 2021-22 season, beating Mumbai at Bengaluru, will participate in their first-ever Irani Cup, to be played from 1-5 March 2023 at Indore.”
