Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have made it to their second consecutive IPL playoffs after a mere 1-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. LSG is now set to play the Eliminator on May 24th at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. They finished the league stage in the third position in the points table after eight wins from 14 matches and 17 points.

After the match, LSG players were seen celebrating their victory by grooving to the famous Bollywood song ‘Bolo Tara ra ra.’ LSG posted a video on their social media with the caption, ‘Moooooooood right now (with a dancing emoji and a blue heart emoji)’ where players like Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan were seen grooving and vibing on the song. However, the Player of the Match, Nicholas Pooran stole the show with his hook steps and caught the attention of the fans.

‘Just really happy with the way we have played’ – LSG skipper after the win

Talking about the match, batting first, LSG posted a total of 176 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran was the highest scorer for LSG as he got out after scoring 58 runs off 30 balls hitting four fours and five sixes. For KKR, Vaibhav Arora, Shardul Thakur and Sunil Narine took 2-2 wickets each.

Chasing the winning total, KKR lost momentum after a great start by their openers, Jason Roy and Venkatesh Iyer. After that, Rinku Singh once again turned out to be the saviour for his team and almost won the match when 21 runs were needed off the last over, but fell short of one run from LSG’s total. The 25-year-old remained unbeaten on 67 runs off 33 balls hitting six fours and four sixes. Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur took 2-2 wickets for LSG.

“First reaction is satisfaction. Just really happy with the way we have played, there was a lot of pressure while batting and bowling, but if you focus, you can pull it off,” LSG skipper Krunal Pandya said at the post-match presentation reacting to his team’s entry in top four.

“Everything starts from the belief, at one stage when they were 61/1, I just thought 2-3 overs can change the game, there was a lot of help for the spinners if we bowled in the right areas and bowled dot balls which would force them to take the high risk, we had a chance,” he further added.
