Pathum Nissanka Set To Join Kandy Falcons For Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2022

Sri Lanka won the second Test match against Australia by an innings and 39 runs after they lost the first one. Dinesh Chandimal smashed a fantastic double hundred in this massive win for Sri Lanka. However, before this match, Sri Lanka dealt with a major blow as Pathum Nissanka got ruled out of the match as he tested Covid-19 positive.

Oshada Fernando was called up as his replacement for the match. But, good news came for Nissanka on 11 July 2022 as he got picked up for Kandy Falcons to represent them in the upcoming Lanka Premier League 2022. This exciting opener will be a part of this year’s edition of the tournament.

Kandy Falcons added this player to their existing squad for the upcoming season as this player had already impressed everyone with his batting abilities in the shortest format of the game for his country. Speaking about his inclusion, the owner of this franchise said that fans will be happy enough to see this player in LPL. 

Speaking to Newswire, Parvez Khan said: “Pathum’s inclusion will not only strengthen our batting but his recent experience playing in the Sri Lanka T20 team will be a huge asset to the team. I am sure the fans will be happy to see him in action for Kandy Falcons in the LPL,”

Currently, this batter is ranked 8th in Men’s T20I batting rankings, the highest among all the available Sri Lankan batters. He also smashed his maiden ODI ton earlier this month against Australia.

In Kandy Flacons, he will join senior, experienced players like Wanindu Hasaranga and Chamika Karunaratne along with some other exciting young prospects like Kamindhu Mendis, Dewald Brewis, and Matheesha Pathirana. With such a strong squad in the bag, Kandy Falcons will look to perform well for their fans this year as LPL is scheduled to kick off on 31 July 2022.
