James Anderson, the right-arm bowler, was Virat Kohli’s fiercest opponent during India’s 2014 tour of England. Anderson four times dismissed the Indian captain. Kohli managed just 134 runs in 10 innings. But, in 2018, Kohli finished the Test series with a record 593 runs, including two hundreds and three half-centuries, and travelled back to England a completely different batsman.

Given his high expectations, Kohli’s below-average performance raised many questions about his place in the starting Eleven, and supporters yelled for him to be benched. Indian cricket fans frequently don’t forget disappointing results in a heartbeat, even though India’s fortunes turned around in the white-ball leg.

An incident like this occurred on India’s flight as they were getting ready to return home; a passenger was hesitant to let the team off the hook easily and appeared to want to give MS Dhoni and Kohli some advice.

What was the in-flight incident that happened with Kohli and Dhoni?

Kohli narrated this incident on the second season of the Bangalore franchise podcast. The former Indian skipper said,

“The man first headed to Mahi and started talking about how the team composition should be and MS ignored it efficiently. He then shifted his focus to me and asked me what exactly is going on with my bat.”

The right handed batter then spoke about how the passenger had a weird request from him and how he handled it.

“The man said that he wanted a hundred from me in the next game. I was young back then and that kind of flicked the switch and I invited him for a conversation. I asked him where he works and he mentioned some company. Then I asked him about his designation and he mentioned that he was some kind of manager. I then replied saying in the next three years. I want you to be the chairman of the company.” he added.
