Mahendra Singh Dhoni has had to take on a variety of responsibilities for the Indian side throughout the years. He has served as captain, a wicketkeeper, and, most crucially, as a devastating finisher who has frequently saved India. Any team would be fortunate to have a player with half of MSD’s skills, and India is fortunate to have the Ranchi native on its roster.

Dhoni has retired from international cricket and is currently leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Many fans and legends of this sport have predicted that this could be the last season for the former India captain as he is 41 years old, but he has officially not officially announced that this would be his last season.

There are some strong candidates for the position. The days when India had trouble finding players who could contribute with the bat, lead the side with the same temperament as well as finish the games as he did for the team. There are some players from the current generation who are more than capable of making things better with their batting skills.

Let’s look at the three Indians who can replace MS Dhoni in the Indian Cricket Team:

3. Sanju Samson

The Indian supporters have been confused by Sanju Samson’s exclusion from the Indian ODI team. Every time Samson takes the pitch to bat in the IPL, he shows his class. The Kerala wicket-keeper batter has faced some of the greatest bowlers in the world and has produced some amazing performances in the cash-rich league. Samson, however, was unable to join the Indian ODI team. The absence of Samson is due to his poor performance in domestic cricket. The 24-year-old’s first-class cricket average is only 36.81. His List A statistics are much worse, with an appalling average of only 27.36.
