2. 1987 World Cup semifinal
Four years after winning their maiden ODI World Cup, India was hosting the tournament for the first time. The home team was riding on the confidence of thrashing New Zealand before the semis. On the other hand, the Mike Gatting-led side had thrashed Sri Lanka in their last league game.
Now, the Three Lions had the opportunity to return the favor to India by beating them in the semis. Riding on Graham Gooch’s 115, his side scored 254/6. After this, the bowlers ensured India doesn’t reach another final as they bowled India out for 219, winning the game by 35 runs.
