3. 2013 Champions Trophy Final
Like the 1983 ODI WC, the Men In Blue weren’t the title contenders. After all, the team was missing the services of quite a few 2011 ODI WC-winning players. Meanwhile, the MS Dhoni-led side defied all odds and won all their games including the warm-up games leading into the final.
On the other hand, England had only lost to Sri Lanka leading into the title clash. In the rain-curtailed low-scoring game, the home team, England won the toss and elected to bowl first. The game was reduced to 20 overs a side after more than five hours of persistent rain. Meanwhile, defending 130 runs, the eventual winners won by five runs and lifted the trophy.
