Since 2019, this former Indian skipper was failing to score at his level best for his country across all three formats. Since then, he failed to register a single century. But, he put an end to that drought in the Asia Cup 2022. Against Afghanistan, he scored his maiden T20I ton on 8 September in Dubai.

It was his 71st international century for India. After a long gap of 1021 days, he finally managed to score this hundred. Speaking of the match, Virat Kohli opened the innings in the absence of Rohit Sharma. He remained not out by scoring 122 runs off 61 balls. It helped India to score 212 runs in 20 overs.
