“Udta Punjab” – Twitteratis Burst Out In Laughter As Harbhajan Singh Names KL Rahul As Rohit Sharma’s Replacement For The Test Match

The Indian Test Team is getting ready to face England in the rescheduled one-off Test match, starting from July 1. However, the Team faced a setback as the skipper, Rohit Sharma tested Covid-19 positive. The news came when India was busy playing the Warm-up match against Leicestershire.  

The Mumbai batter did not come out to bat in the second innings and then, after the end of that day’s play, an Indian Cricket Board’s statement came out. It said that Rohit Sharma is Covid affected and he will now go through under the isolation period as per guidance.

It was not the first time that the Indian camp faced a setback in this tour as their top-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also tested Covid-19 positive before the match. However, he came back to bowl a few overs in the Warm-up match as he picked up two wickets also.

Now, a final test will be conducted on Rohit Sharma on 30 June 2022. If a negative result comes out, then he will be available for the match. However, the recovery time is too short to manage and that’s why he is most likely to miss this historical Test match. It will be a huge blow for India as a new opening pair needs to be fielded in the match. 

As per reports, Jasprit Bumrah is the front runner to be the captain in absence of Rohit Sharma. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant is most likely to be the deputy for Bumrah. But, a humorous thing happened when the governing body of Cricket took their Twitter account to ask fans about their choice regarding the captain of the side. In reply, former Indian spinner, Harbhajan Singh took the name of KL Rahul. But, the hilarious part is that the player is already ruled out of the series due to his groin injury. Hence, Twitter users found it very surprising and came up with some fantastic replies for the former spinner.
