On Thursday, celebrity couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli unveiled SeVVA, a non-profit organisation dedicated to aiding those in need. To start this combined non-profit project, Anushka and Virat have agreed to combine their individual foundations, the  FounAnushka Sharmadation and the Virat Kohli Foundation.

The couple announced their decision to collaborate with SeVVA in a statement, noting that its work will not be “limited to a particular topic.” The joint statement read, “In the words of Kahlil Gibran ‘, For in truth it is life that gives unto life- while you, who deem yourself a giver, are but a witness’. With this sentiment in mind, we have decided to work together through SeVVA, aiming to reach out to as many people as possible. SeVVA’s work won’t be confined to a particular issue as it will continue to strive for social good by championing humanity which is the need of the hour today.”

‘SeVVA will aid areas of concern that benefit society’ – read the statement

In the meanwhile, Virat will keep sponsoring players and offering sports scholarships. Anushka will also keep up her involvement in animal welfare. “The two of them together through SeVVA will be on the lookout to aid areas of concern that benefit society at large,” the note read.

Anushka, who last appeared in a major motion picture in Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero in 2018, will star in Chakda Express. The movie, which will be available on Netflix, is based on the life of former Indian cricket captain Jhulan Goswami. Prosit Roy is the director of the film.

As for Virat, he was last involved in the ODI series between India and Australia, which the hosts lost 2-1. The visitors bounced back after losing the first ODI in Wankhede to win the latter two in the series. Kohli scored a half-century in the final ODI. However, his efforts were unsuccessful, with India losing the game by 21 runs. More importantly, he recently ended his century drought in red-ball cricket in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series, which India won 2-1.
