Former India skipper Virat Kohli has thanked Yuvraj Singh for the golden boots the former cricketer gifted Kohli yesterday, February 23. The left-hander penned an emotional note in the caption and wrote about the journey of Kohli as a cricketer over the years.

In response, the former skipper thanked the 40-year-old for the shoes. He added that Singh’s comeback from cancer will always be inspirational for people from all walks of life. The right-hander also wished happiness for his former teammate. “Coming from someone who’s seen my career unfold from day 1, it means a lot. Your life and your comeback from cancer was, is and will always be an inspiration for people in all walks of life not just cricket,” wrote Kohli.

“Now we’re both parents and know what a blessing that is. I wish you all the happiness, beautiful memories and blessings in this new journey,” added the former skipper.

The shoes are of the PUMA, a brand both individuals have been associated for a long time. Both players have played with each other from 2008 to 2017. In 2008, Kohli made his debut in international cricket. Also, they played for the Bangalore franchise in the Indian T20 League 2014.

Both were part of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad as well. Singh won the Player Of The Tournament award for his all-round performance. They played together for the last time in mid-2017 on the tour of the West Indies. The 2007 T20 World Cup winner was dropped from the team and was never considered again. During the 2019 World Cup, he announced his retirement from the game. In that tournament, Kohli led the team and they reached the semifinals before losing to New Zealand. Both Kohli and Yuvraj are known to be great friends and share a great bond.
