Virat Kohli’s batting ability is something that is not often doubted. Kohli has been the most prolific run-scorer for India post-Sachin Tendulkar era.It is not often that he repeats his mistakes. But in the second test against Sri Lanka at Bengaluru, this rare incident was witnessed by cricket fans as he was was trapped in front of the stumps in both the innings of the Test by a spinner.

The whole cricketing fraternity is waiting for his much anticipated 71st international century. But Kohli has been out of touch for quite some time now as it has been over two years now that he has kept his fans waiting for the landmark hundred.

When asked about Kohli in an interview on Khelneeti’s YouTube channel, Rajesh Sharma, Kohli’s childhood coach said that apparently there is a problem with his batting. But according to him, the problem is more on the mental front than technical. He is of the opinion that Kohli is being too cautious and is killing his own freedom.

“Virat will need to come back to his basics. I would definitely want him to come back to the academy. I was thinking about his form yesterday and I am going to talk to him. The kind of confidence that he gets batting in the academy, he needs it,” Sharma said on Khelneeti podcast.

“He is batting really well but unfortunately, he is batting too cautiously. If he starts to bat a bit more freely, like he has his entire career then soon he will be back to his best. On such wickets, you need to take more chances like Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer did,” he added.
