The OTT platform Voot Select is going to join hands with the famous director Neeraj Pandey for their upcoming project of a documentary on the Indian cricket team’s historic Test win in Australia named ‘Bandon Mein Tha Dum.’ The film is due to release on the 16th of June. Pandey is best known for the movie ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, the biopic of the Indian cricketing legend MS Dhoni. The movie created hysteria among the people and the upcoming series is expected to be the same.

The series will primarily focus on portraying the emotions of the Indian and Australian players while participating in the historical series. Notably, India won the Test series by 2-1 and took home the Border-Gavaskar trophy. The series was a tough one for the Indian team as the squad was plagued by injuries. But the team fought against all obstacles and registered a daring and historical win. India won the last match at Gabba in Brisbane and clinched the series.

Neeraj Pandey felt that the India-Australia series brought smiles and inspired the mass during the COVID-19 pandemic. As quoted by Republic World, Pandey said – “The human stories in this cricketing fairy tale elevated the series beyond a cricketing audience and created euphoria across all segments of the Indian society. The nation was gripped and it was therefore befitting for us to bring the story to the people of India of one of the greatest comebacks in the history of sorts and cricket.”

The documentary will feature notable Indian cricketers like Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rishabh Pant, Cheteswar Pujara, and Mohammad Siraj in behind the scene clippings. Even the coaches and journalists who were involved with the series will also feature in the movie.

‘Nothing excited me more than retelling this story which went beyond high-quality cricket, hard work, perseverance, determination, commitment, sportsmanship, and decoding the x-factor through the mind of the players which repeated the David vs Goliath story,”- the director added.

Notably, India was written off in the series after they were bowled for just 36 runs in the first match of the 2020-21 Test series. After that, the team staged a dramatic turned around under the leadership of acting captain Ajinkya Rahane. Eight months after the historic win, Pandey has revealed that he will bring to screen all the aspects of the finest series wins for the Indian team.
