Australia will be looking to defend their title, a feat never achieved in the history of the tournament. Also, the defending champions would also like to become the first win to win the title at home. The Aussies are slotted in the Group 1 against their Ashes rivals, England, trans-tasman rivals, New Zealand, Afghanistan. Two more teams will join them from the first round.

On the other hand, Pakistan is also searching for their second title since 2009. At that time, the team won the title under now retired, Younis Khan, beating Sri Lanka in the final. Since then, they qualified for the semis in 2010, 2012, and 2021. Currently, they have the confidence of winning the tri-series against New Zealand and Bangladesh. Pakistan are slotted in the Group 2 alongside arch-rivals, India, Bangladesh, and South Africa. Two more teams will join them from the first round.
