On 28 August 2022, India is going to play their arch-rivals Pakistan for their opening match of this year’s Asia Cup. However, big-name players like Virat Kohli will be back in action for India in this tournament. Meanwhile, it will be Kohli’s 100th T20I match for India. With this record, he will become the first-ever Indian player to play 100 matches across all three formats.

Along with it, he will become only the second player to do so after New Zealand’s Ross Taylor. Now, ahead of this massive milestone, former South African batter, AB De Villiers came up with a congratulatory message for Kohli. Not only Devilliers, but Kohli’s current Bangalore skipper, Faf Du Plessis also shared a good luck message. The videos got viral as the Star Sports network shared those on their Twitter account.

I will be watching you, my good friend”. – AB De Villiers on Virat Kohli

Speaking of the videos, AB Devilliers wished his former Bangalore teammate good luck for this huge milestone in his career. He also said that he will watch Kohli in action while he will play against Pakistan. He said: “Congratulations to Virat Kohli as he is going to become the first Indian cricketer to complete 100 matches in all formats – I will be watching you, my good friend”.

Meanwhile, Faf Du Plessis said: “Hello Virat, I want to tell you in the video message that congratulations on the 100th T20 International, where you will become the first Indian who has played so many matches in all three formats. This is another great achievement in your list of illustrious records. You still have a lot left to offer in cricket and I am very excited to see that. Congratulations and good luck for the Asia Cup.”

Speaking of Kohli’s career so far, he has played 102 Tests, 262 ODIs, and 99 T20Is for India. In the shortest format of the game, he has scored 3308 runs at an average of 50.12. Hence, he will be eager to play in this match with a motive to contribute to his team. Since 2019, Virat Kohli has failed to score at his best form across all three formats. He last played for India during the England tour. Then, Kohli took a rest from both the West Indies and Zimbabwe tours. Hence, he will look to get back in form in this tournament. Fans will also hope for a better show from him while he will represent India for the 100th time in this shortest format of the game in the UAE.
