It is always said that there is no ‘I’ in the team. Seems that Mohammed Siraj has proved it in the ongoing third T20I between New Zealand and India. Apparently, in the 19th over of the innings, Arshdeep Singh took two back-to-back wickets. Stand-in skipper Tim Southee came out to bat to face the hat trick. The right-hander avoided the hat-trick as he defended the yorker from Singh.

However, as the stand-in New Zealand skipper defended the ball, Adam Milne from the non-striking end. However, Southee wasn’t ready as the ball had went quickly to Siraj. The latter saw Milne on the halfway mark of the wicket and hit the stumps at the non-striking end. In the replays, Milne was found short of his crease. In the process, the Men In Blue got their hat trick as a team.

Talking about the game, the Kiwis were in a strong position after electing to bat first. After 15 overs, they were 129/2 and were looking to get a big score. However, the likes of Siraj and Singh ensured that the opposition got all-out on 160. The Blackcaps lost their last eight wickets for 31 runs. Siraj and Singh took four wickets each.

After the first innings, Siraj spoke about his bowling and said “I was on standbys for the T20 World Cup. I was preparing to bowl hard lengths in New Zealand conditions. If someone hits me from that length, then good shot. But my aim was to go for the hard lengths. 160-165 is a good total with the short boundaries.”

In reply, the visitor lost their first three wickets for 21 runs. However, the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya kept the run flow as the team finished 58/3 in the powerplay. Yadav got out after scoring 13 and the game was delayed due to rain after a short while. At the time of writing, the umpires have come out to do a final inspection of the field.
