On 7 September 2022, Afghanistan took on Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. It was a vital match for the Afghans as they were coming off a defeat against Sri Lanka. On the other side, Pakistan was looking to seal its birth in the final by winning this match. They already defeated India by five wickets in the first match of the ‘Super Four’.

However, Pakistan managed to win a thriller by one wicket at Sharjah. Afghanistan players showed a lot of fight. But, it was not enough as Pakistan held their nerves. But, during the chase, Pakistan batter Asif Ali got involved in a heated exchange with Fareed Ahmad. The video went viral all over the internet.

Asif Ali scored 16 runs off eight balls before losing his wicket to Fareed Ahmad

Speaking of the video, Afghanistan’s Fareed Ahmad came up to bowl the 19th over of the match. Asif Ali was batting with Naseem Shah for Pakistan. In that over, Asif hit Fareed for a six in the fourth delivery. But, in the next ball only, Fareed took Asif Ali’s wicket. 

He bowled a short delivery. Asif tried to smash that again. But, it got the edge of his bat and flew towards Karim Janat standing at the short fine leg. But, things got heated when both of them got involved in a heated exchange. They kind of pushed each other also. Even, Asif Ali seemed going to hit Fareed Ahmad with the bat. However, Afghanistan players came and separated both players.

Speaking of the match, Afghanistan scored 129 runs by losing eight wickets in 20 overs. Ibrahim Zadran was the highest scorer with 35 runs off 37 balls. In reply, Pakistan was struggling to chase down the target. Shadab Khan scored 36 runs off 26 balls. But, in the last over, Pakistan required 11 runs with one wicket in the bag. But, young pacer Naseem Shah held his nerve and smashed two consecutive sixes for his nation. Thus, they defeated Afghanistan by one wicket. With this win, they also qualified for the final against Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2022.
