In a bizarre yet hilarious incident in the ongoing Road Safety World Series 2022, Sri Lankan batters run four runs against Bangladesh when it should have been only a single. In the 19th match of the Road Safety World Series between Bangladesh Legends and Sri Lanka Legends, Alok Kapali bowled the 5th ball of the 8th over to Mahela Udawatte. The latter went for a sweep only for the ball to go to the man at short fine leg.

The ball turned after landing at the ground and the fielder couldn’t judge it properly which allowed Dilshan and Mahela to take the second. Despite getting the ball in his hands, the fielder didn’t throw the ball to the keeper’s end and the batters took it as an opportunity to run the third.

Upon seeing the batters take the third run, the fielder threw the ball but it was too wide, which led the batters take another extra run. In the process, Dilshan and Mahela took four runs when it should have been only one, thanks to some sloppy fielding from the Bangladeshi fielder.

Here’s a look at that video:

Talking about that game, Sri Lanka Legends went onto beat Bangladesh Legends by 70 runs to seal a place in the playoffs. Batting first, Sri Lanka notched a mammoth score of 214 runs on the board. T Dilshan, once again, starred with the bat as he amassed 51 off just 30 balls. Udawatte laid the foundation with a good-looking 27-ball 43.

In response, Bangladesh Legends could only manage to score 143 runs. Tushar Imran scored 52 off 54 but he lacked support from the other end. Dilshan also stood up with the ball as he grabbed 3 wickets for 26 runs in 3 overs.

Sri Lanka will now be playing the 2nd Semi-Final match against West Indies Legends in Raipur on Thursday. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have been knocked out of the competition.
