Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana is known to bowl like his countryman, Lasith Malinga. The latter was known for his yorkers and sling bowling action which is rare in the game. During his prime, the 2014 20-20 World Cup-winning skipper was one of the best white-ball bowlers. In 2020, the right-arm pacer retired from the game. Now, he is the bowling coach of Rajasthan in the Indian T20 League.

Meanwhile, Pathirana is pretty much like Malinga in terms of bowling. The former came into the limelight during the U19 Men’s ODI World Cup 2020. Currently, he has made it to the national side and is playing for Desert Vipers in the ongoing International League T20. The Indian broadcaster of the tournament uploaded a video oh him searing in threatening yorkers. The batters were looking to cover.

Matheesha Pathirana is making giant strides in league cricket

Meanwhile, the right-arm pacer, Pathirana is making Giant strides as far as T20 leagues are concerned. Last year, he was signed as a replacement for Adam Milne by Chennai during the Indian T20 League 2022. He played one game, i.e against eventual champions, Gujarat. Ahead of the Indian T20 League player auction 2023, the 20-year-old was retained by the four-time winners.

Apart from this, the slinger has played for Kandy Falcons in the Lanka Premier League last year. Also, he was one of the reserve players for the Lankan Lions’ side for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Now, he is playing for the Desert Vipers as discussed above.
