A two-day auction happened on 5 and 6 August 2022 for the upcoming ninth season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). All 12 teams looked to build a strong squad ahead of the next PKL season. However, Pawan Shehrawat became the most expensive player in the history of this competition (Rs 2.26 crore for the Tamil Thalaivas). Previously he played for the Bengaluru Bulls where he had a great relationship with the head coach Randhir Singh Sehrawat.

While speaking during the auctions, Randhir said the reasons why Bengaluru did not go for Pawan Sherawat. He was in tears after seeing his student leave for another team. The video got viral and the Star Sports network also posted that on Twitter. They shared the video with a caption: ‘An emotional conversation between @pawan_kumar17 & @BengaluruBulls coach that had us going! Here’s what words were exchanged after Pawan became the most expensive player of #vivoPKLPlayerAuction. #vivoProKabaddi’

“I knew Pawan would go for 220-230 lakh” – Randhir Singh Sehrawat during PKL Auctions

While speaking during the auctions, the Bengaluru Head coach said that he knew that Pawan would go for such a huge amount. Hence, they went for Vikash Khandola. Even, though he confirmed that Vikash once told him that he wants to play under his guidance.

He said: “I knew Pawan would go for 220-230 lakh. As Vikash Khandola’s name came out first, I thought I should go for him. If I tried to hold the money, we would have probably missed out on both Vikash and Pawan. Vikash Khandola once told me that he wants to play under me. So, now he has got the chance.”

However, during the same chat, Pawan also showed his gratitude to the former coach. He told that it was all his credit to make him such a player what he has become now in this league. He also urged support from the Bengaluru coach in the future. In reply to that, Randhir Singh Sherawat also confirmed his blessings for his future success.
