Former Australia opening batter, Cameron Bancroft pulled off a spectacular catch against Sydney Thunders. In the recently concluded game of the ongoing BBL 2022-23, he dove close to the boundary to take a brilliant catch. The incident happened in the 19th over of the Thunders’ innings. Andrew Tye, who bowled the over, pitched in a slow short ball just around the off stump.

Nathan McAndrew, in reply, played a swat between long-on and deep midwicket. It looked like the ball might go toward the boundary but Bancroft had other ideas. The right-hander towards his right and converted a potential boundary into a catch. This was the ninth wicket to fall for the former champions, Thunders. The video is going viral on the internet.

Talking about the game, the defending champions, Perth dominated the game right from the toss. After winning the toss, the Orange Brigade put the home side first. The decision proved right as they kept picking wickets every two overs on average. Scorchers bowled out Sydney for a paltry total of 111 all-out. For the visitors, David Payne, Lance Morris, and Matthew Kelly took two wickets each.

Andrew Tye took three while Ashton Agar took one. In reply, the defending champions lost only one wicket and chased down the target in just 12.5 overs. Bancroft, who took a great catch early in the game, scored an unbeaten 55.  After the game, he said that he is enjoying every opportunity he gets. Speaking of the pitch, he said that it was a two-paced wicket.

“I’m just really enjoying the opportunity as much as I can. The wicket always is a little bit two-paced here and best use of it is probably to get up top and open the batting.”
